Randolph's Traveling Art Center

The Arts Bus was born of a collaboration of community organizations in Randolph, Vermont for the future of Artists, Performers and Arts appreciation.

A group of interested individuals that represent Arts and cultural happenings in the area evaluated the needs of youth and children of their exposure to the arts as a whole. The goals were simple, to provide outreach from core organizations: Chandler Center for the Arts, The White River Craft Center, Kimball Library, and The Boys and Girls Club of America.

In Fall 2008, a 73 passenger school bus was donated by a retired bus driver for use as a traveling Arts Center. After extensive mechanical and body overhaul the interior was stripped, painted white and made ready to build into an art studio space. The exterior was painted bright green and the rear of the bus fitted with a handicap accessible lift gate that would double as a performance stage.

The exterior of the bus was decorated with a 56' mural designed by Phil Godeschwager and executed with the help of volunteer artists of all ages from the community who came together to work towards a common goal.
